Merry Christmas!

Wishing you all peace, joy, and many blessings!

(It's been a while. . .I'm trying to find my way back.
Bear with me, I might do some catch up posts mixed with the new!)

Zoo time!

We love spending time at our local zoo. It was way too steamy earlier this summer to spend much time there with Little G. Now that we're having a bit of fall weather (in July, I know it's a little odd), we decided to pack a picnic and enjoy the day.

Little G's first log ride, horseback riding for Peanut, fruit-kabobs. . .

So glad my kiddos love the outdoors. Well, Little G does anyway. Peanut has her moments;)

My little fish

Asides from my baby swimmer, I also have my little fish.
She would probably live in the pool if she could!

This is my first summer working in a long long time. Certainly an adjustment for me but also a huge adjustment for my peanut (along with a new baby in the house, multiple houses to go to, etc. Oh my). Thankfully my mom was able to step in as daycare provider!

Firsts!

We had a lovely weekend spending a great deal of time outside.
Love summer.

Snuggles on the porch are the best way to start the day!

Then we spent time people watching at Freimann Square and wandering around Three Rivers Festival.  Little G rode in his big boy stroller for the first time! He doesn't really enjoy riding around in the car seat stroller much anymore - too much to see out there!

Followed it all up with Little G's first dip in the pool! He wasn't too sure at first but then fell asleep in my arms. We'll turn him into a baby swimmer in no time!

Family Reunions

We've had a few different family reunions this summer, always so great to see everyone. . .And the perfect opportunity for everyone to meet Little G.

After the stress of meeting all these new people, Little G had to nap and chill. Life is rough right?! ;)

Baptism

We had Little G baptized in a private ceremony at our church the other week. Private by choice due to our non-traditional family circumstance (to put it nicely). He was over it by the end, his face in the pic with my parents is HILARIOUS! After leaving the church, he was much happier. . .too much stress having water sprinkled on your head!

balancing it all. . .

Life is a balancing act.  It'll take a bit of time to figure out how to balance my role as a mom with a newborn and a 9 yr old, working full time as a social worker, trying to keep my jewelry business alive, and have a bit of time for fun of course!  I previously worked diligently to create my own jewelry website, but have recently decided to discontinue that site and link lochristine.com to thi s blog.  I just don't have as much time to put into my jewelry right now as I would like. . .Plus, I'm trying to be a bit more budget conscious and cut extra expenses (like my own website).  As a single mom in the social work field, money is not flowing in abundance;-)

my little artist. . .

While I was in the hospital in labor with little man, this lady had some artwork featured in an art show!

Earlier in the year, she performed in the school talent show and had a solo in her school play!

So proud of her. She has talent in so many ways, just have to find a way to channel her non-stop energy into one of these areas:)

Parenting a newborn. . .

is hard.  When everyone says that you get no sleep, I had no idea what that truly meant. The first few weeks were a struggle.  Getting by on little sleep and trying to figure out breastfeeding, combined with my frustration over my lack of mobility due to the c-section definitely proved to be a challenge.  My mom's help was and continues to be invaluable.  Grayson is now on a good sleep schedule and is just a great baby (in my unbiased opinion, haha)!

I had a bit of a love/hate relationship with breastfeeding in the beginning - it was incredibly time consuming and I often wondered if Grayson was even getting enough to eat.  Now, however, I love it for a multitude of reasons: Grayson eats faster, I'm more comfortable with it, I love having the ability to comfort him anytime, it's free, it's convenient, etc.  And obviously it's the healthiest option for him right now. He and I are learning and figuring this all out together every day.

It's simply amazing to watch him learn and grow.  Each day is different.

Asides from growing mentally, his body is growing too - at 6 weeks, he was 12lbs 7oz and 25.5in!!!

the love of children. . .

Little M brought this paper home from school yesterday. She must have written it for a school assignment shortly after Grayson was born.  I had no idea and it just melted my heart.  She was so embarrassed when I read it. We've definitely had a few struggles with attention and jealousy issues since Grayson was born and some struggles with school work this year (probably due to the stress/complication of going back and forth between several households) but we are working our way through them.  It's a learning and growing process for us all.

I can honestly say that I never planned to have kids when I was younger and well, I certainly never thought I'd be a single mom, but I wouldn't change anything for the world.  My kids are amazing and my life is pretty good:)
